The Tennessean: 8 rising Nashville artists you should be listening to right now!

As winter thaws to spring in Music City, it's time to bulk up your windows-down playlist.


But look no further than local artists releasing music in a variety of genres, from R&B to pop, rock and folk, in addition to new country tunes. Nashville's impressive crop of up-and-coming musicians are dropping some of the best new singles available across streaming platforms.


Here are eight Nashville artists making waves right now, and where you can catch them on stages throughout the city.


Bay Simpson



Bay Simpson, a 26-year-old Muscle Shoals native, is one of the latest rockers to represent Music City on NBC's "The Voice," earning a chair turn from Adam Levine this season.


Simpson has an old school retro folk-rock tone, which checks out with his musical lore. He's a distant relative of Elvis Presley. His maternal grandfather’s aunt was the king of rock 'n' roll's own grandmother, Minnie Mae Hood. Elvis affectionately called her "Dodger."


Before Simpson went solo, he toured with the band Outlaw Apostles and shared stages with Dwight Yoakam and Jamey Johnson. At age 20, Kid Rock recorded Simpson's song "Never Enough."


Simpson will release his new song, "Too Good To Be True," on April 10. The track reflects on coming of age in the 2010s.

Simpson was eliminated from “The Voice” during the show’s recent knockout rounds premiere. To watch "The Voice," tune in on Monday nights at 8 p.m. CT on NBC.
