Dead Horse Branding was brought on to lead event management and public relations for Home Run for Hope, while also securing and managing all brand partnerships tied to the initiative. During early planning, Dead Horse Branding identified the need for an ADA-compliant baseball field and brought the opportunity to Joe Nichols’ attention, strategically aligning the cause with the message behind his song “Home Run for Hope.” This alignment helped transform the song into a tangible community impact initiative, guiding the event’s mission, partnerships, and media strategy.

HOME RUN FOR HOPE — COMMUNITY IMPACT EVENT LED BY JOE NICHOLS

The Home Run for Hope initiative, led by multi-platinum country artist Joe Nichols, is a deeply personal and community-driven effort to expand accessibility in youth sports across West Nashville. In partnership with the West Nashville Sports League (WNSL), the fundraiser aims to build Nashville’s first ADA-compliant baseball field, designed specifically for children with special needs and adaptive requirements.

A Mission Rooted in Personal Experience

For Nichols, the initiative goes far beyond philanthropy. As the brother of a special-needs sibling, he understands the profound impact of creating inclusive spaces for athletes of all abilities. “My sister changed everything for me,” Nichols shared. “Still to this day, she does so much for me, and I see that same impact in the families here.”

His compassion and lived experience form the emotional core of Home Run for Hope, grounding the project in genuine purpose and advocacy.

WNSL’s Vision for Inclusive Sports

For Scott Tygard, President of WNSL, the adaptive field is the culmination of years of planning. With aging fields built more than a decade ago, the need for a safe, inclusive, modernized space for special-needs athletes became undeniable. Home Run for Hope represents a major step toward meeting that need.

Major Partnership Support: Academy Sports + Outdoors

The event received significant momentum through a partnership with Academy Sports + Outdoors, who joined Nichols to surprise multiple local organizations with brand-new sporting equipment. Beneficiaries included:

• Special Olympics of Tennessee Youth Athletes

• West Nashville Sports League

• The King’s Daughters’ School

• Mt. Juliet Challenger League

These donations strengthened the organizations doing daily work to empower special-needs athletes.

Local Sponsors & Community Rallying Together

A wide network of local partners amplified the event with auction items, giveaways, food, and resources. Supporters included:

• Vanderbilt Athletics

• Mason’s Hotdogs

• Legends Bank

• Taylor Guitars (who auctioned a guitar signed by Nichols)

• Sinkers Beverages

• Good Scentiments

• Roper Western Wear

• National Bobblehead Hall of Fame

Their generosity helped transform the day into a meaningful, collaborative celebration.

A Day of Joy, Connection & Inclusion

Throughout the event, Nichols played catch with children athletes from the Special Olympics, WNSL, the Mt. Juliet Challenger League, and The King’s Daughters’ School, emphasizing the joy, teamwork, and sense of belonging at the heart of the initiative.

Adding to the excitement, Jelly Roll made a surprise appearance, meeting young athletes, encouraging families, and bringing an unforgettable boost of energy to the field.
