Exclusive Spotlight Interview With Rising Pop Star Halston Dare

May 20, 2020 | Courtesy of Out Now Magazine's SPOTLIGHT

Halston Dare is not your average pop star. Growing up in a musical family to a Cuban American, immigrant father, Halston grew up with music in her blood.

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. It's my amazing southern hometown, and also, when I turned 17 I moved out to Nashville, Tn, and left my family behind in Texas to pursue my music career.

Tell us about your single ‘Replace You’, how was the work on it, who were the people who contributed to the single, and what is the story behind it?

Replace You is one of my most favorite songs I’ve ever created with my team. Michelle Buzz and I wrote the single together the day after I had got into a fight with my significant other who was making me feel like I was lesser than him. It was a challenging time, but I slowly grew out of it and realized my worth was greater than that guy! LOL

After your breakthrough into the music industry, do you remember the moment you realized you were a rising star in the field

To be honest, it still doesn’t feel like it. I’ve been singing my whole life so nothing really different. I hope someday I never forget my roots but who wouldn’t want to know the celebrity life?! I will say, the day I got verified was so cool! That was a huge achievement I was hoping to accomplish.

Who is the next artist you would like to collaborate with?

Julia Michaels, Khalid, Martin Garrix, The ChainSmokers, Shawn Mendes, Bazzi, The Weeknd. IT WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE!

Favorite moment from your career?

Last Year in 2019, I performed and opened up for Danity Kane in New York at the Irving Plaza and it was one of the most incredible experiences. The crowd was so kind and accepting, and the music flowed so right, and the lights were perfect and that concert confirmed my purpose on this earth as a performer.

Who were the people who influenced you the most from whom you were inspired?

My Dad influenced a lot of my career. He's been my right-hand man the whole way and so has my mom. My Dad grew up singing as well and also influenced a lot of the music I listen to today, for example, Whitney Houston, Bryan Adams, Phill Collins, The Eagles, Frank Sinatra.

What other things do you do besides making music

I love to be a homebody and do nothing but be with my friends and watch tv and talk. It’s my favorite thing in the whole world!

What excites you most about being a Singer and performing around the world

It's exciting because I get to share a message and my story with the world, and I know so many others would kill to be in my shoes and I am so very grateful. I hope someday to be as respected as a musician and writer and artists like Lady Gaga and Justin, and so many others.

What are your goals for the future?

1. Release More Music

2. Tour

3. Collab with major artist and idol

4. Start my own makeup brand and glitter that's biodegradable

5. Continuing sharing my message with the world

Please write a message to your fans.

I love you so much, each and every one of you. I am so grateful for y'all, and if it weren’t for you I would be nothing! IF YOU have a dream go for it. I have had this dream since I was little girl, and if I wouldn't have gone for it I think I would have regretted it for the rest of my life. SO, GO FOR YOUR DREAMS!
